Bigger Than I

Am I trippin or...
Does it seem like the closer and closer it got to President Obama going into office (and after) the more ignorant black peoples image on television/the media became? I mean I thought we were going down fast but not this quickly. It seems like everything has gotten more extreme. You can't have a successful black movie without it being written by Tyler Perry. A man who's best comedy is to dress like a gun-totting typical ass ABW (Angry Black Woman)? Big Mamas' House, Skank Robbers, The Miller Lite Guy (for real he acts like a female) why do black men have to act like Black women to get money on the big screen. Now dont get me wrong I love comedy but can't we do more?
The Popeye's Chicken lady, the cooning robots in Transformers 2, Frankie and Neffie, Tiny and Toya,
I keep an open mind but watching Meet the Browns and House of Payne makes my head hurt. There is no balance for us anymore we are either a sidekick or making a mockery out of ourselves. How can Oprah endorse this buffoonery but she won't give Hip-Hop any love on her show? And while I am on the point of Hip-Hop, what the hell is going on? When did this Auto-tune, jewelry-Porche renting, patron sippin, "swagger", money's more important than my mother, mess become music? What happened to informing your people about what is goin on. No, not just I have to push weight to survive information, I mean letting people know why they need to be a father and the fact that going to prison doesn't equal being a "real nigga", it just means your dumb ass got caught slippin (or persecuted for being black).
Why can't we be celebrated for being smart, not just a 2 minute acknowledgment (BET Awards), I'm talking about shows that revile how advanced Egyptians were. Not history channel Egyptians who all of a sudden are white I mean the dark and beautiful all color Egyptians. What about doing a special on the emasculation of the black man with promoting this loose lifestyle, the mistreating of our women, the prison system and that God-forsaken Halle Berry dance (really bruh?). It is under the radar genocide, and if they can keep you thinking small they've won.
So I tell you this Black Man, even if you can't afford to go out of the country get a passport. If you cannot afford school, read book. Think bigger than being a rapper, producer, getting into the league because the odds are it won't happen. I would never suggest to give up on your dreams but be realistic! Who's gonna take care of our people when we are sick, represent us in court, fix our cars, build our houses if we are all rappers. In the words of Kleeane "Find out who you are so you can lead."
